New immigration bill scuttled

Now that the ill concieved immigration bill has been scuttled do you think the congress and administration might start sensibly enforcing existing law before ms 13 grows any larger ? I doubt it ,they are too busy protecting the civil rights of illegal criminals and prosecuting border patrol agents to pay attention to the law. This bill was merely an attempt to divert the public attention from the abandonment of enforcing present law .

Congressional arrogance

The Senate just rammed thru re-instatement of the flawed immigration bill. Congressional approval rating prior to this action was 14 per cent, a record low. Since the American public overwhelmingly opposed this bill I can only assume the Senate is aiming at a new record .

Stupid prosecutors pantheon

Worthy of receiving the Golden Mr. Potato Head Nifong Award is Attorney General Charles Foti of Louisiana. He has taken over the prosecution of Dr. Pou in New Orleans. He is going to prosecute a doctor who stayed in the city caring for patients until the Hell of the city broke over the hospitals. I will have to remove D A Eddie Jordan of New Orleans from the pantheon of prosecutorial idiots he rightly tried to avoid this prosecution..

Congressional fools and charlatans

Want oil independence, easy, tax oil companies so that they do not have any incentive or money to explore and develop and use the money raised for alternative energy which shows no promise of relieving our oil dependency. Do not allow any oil developement in the United States... Brilliant solution by the charlatans who inhabit congress. Incidentally their moraliity and rectitude can be judged by the fact that ats least 92 of them almost equally split between republicans and democrats have ethical violations. My particular favorites are that smarmy Harry Reid, with his three lobbyist sons , Diane Fienstein, whose husbands companies made millions in defense contracts, a the two alaskan republican beauties...

The feel good society

We are doing something about energy dependency, global warming, environmental degradation and immigration. Look at us, we passed laws for alternative sources of energy, to reduce greenhouse gases, collect and recycle rubbish, and laws we don't enforce on immigration. None of these actions effectively affect the problems but they sure make us feel good and highly moral. How energy independence can be achieved without producing more oil is a question we ignore. Whether or not reducing greenhouse gases will measurably affect global warming; or efforts to reduce human effects on the environment are effective in view of burgeoning population erasing benefits of these efforts, are questions never adressed. Our media, politicians and numerous "save the world" non profits preen while the problems remain, but gosh do we feel good.

Panacea or Pandoras Box:Ethanol

Reverberations are increasing from the corngrowers and environmentalist ethanol fiasco. Major oil companies are rethinking plans for increasing or building new refinery capacity in reaction to congressional fiats for more use of ethanol. This will insure high gas prices for years. When added to the problems already extant from corn based ethanol production, i. e. higher food prices, greater pollution, increased use of water resources , greater health risks and taxes to subsidize the production; it is becoming more and more evident that ethanol is not a panacea but a Pandora's Box.

omniscience by apple

“For today we celebrate the first, glorious anniversary of the Information Purification Directive! We have created, for the first time in all history, a garden of pure ideology, where each worker may bloom secure from the pests of contradictory and confusing truths.”

“Our Unification of Thought is a more powerful weapon than any fleet or army on Earth! We are one people. With one will. One resolve. One cause. Our enemies shall talk themselves to death. And we will bury them with their own confusion!”

This was part of the text of Apple"s famous 1984 Super Bowl commercial. Substitute Militant Islam for the phrase "Information Purification Directive" and it pretty well describes the problems of the world today.

who CAIR's

There are 1700 members of the Council of American Islamic Relations. Yet the organization claims to speak for all American Moslems . Politicians and media slavishly pay attention to and promulgate their messages. The Boston Globe recently published an article citing this groups statement that discrimination against
Moslems by federal agencies had increased . If CAIR is reffering to the band of brothers who intended to attack soldiers , or the Imams who purposely disturbed airline passengers, I applaud the federal agencies. The funding of this group is truly suspect , it comes from foreign governments and nationals who are inimical to western interests and have links to Hamas. I cannot fathom how any responsible politician or media person can not be aware of this and mention it in any reference to this group. The group should be forced to register as representing foriegn governments.

One hundred and nineteen ethanol plants operating ; seventy three have been cited for environmental violations, mostly for clean air laws. What regulatory response? The EPA at the request of a few congessional allies of the "National Corn growers Association has raised the limits on ethanol plants pollution requirements by 150 percent. Congress keeps giving the industry incentives . The whole ethanol from corn boondoggle is the biggest feel good scam ever put over on the American Public

immigration januses

Politicians from the left and right state they are in favor of "securing the border" if so, why don't they do it ? Vote on a bill securing the border then take up the difficult "path to citizenship "question. We know the reason . They can hide behind the difficulty of the latter to avoid acting on the former.. What a bunch of dissembling clowns

name change

I couldn't get people to think and since my positions are often at odds with the "church of global warming" .I have been declared a "heretic" by that group. I thought of buying carbon footprint indulgences from the pope's ,Al Gore, company which sells such things. Instead I have embraced the banishment from the righteous group of true believers and henceforth will be known as "savanarola"

staring them in the face

The pundits and politicians, including our Ken Salazar are finger pointing at everyone for the failure of the immigration bill to get through the Senate. The reason the public raised such hell is not because of a word "amnesty" but because of complete distrust of enforcement of the bills provisions. A similar bill was passed in 1986 at the behest of luminaries like Spector and Kennedy. The bill provided for amnesty for about 3 million illegals ,the closing of the border and penalties for hiring illegals. The latter two provisions were never enforced by either Republican or Democrat administrations. Why expect more now? Fool me once , shame on you: fool me twice shame on me.

I laugh so i shall not cry

Our social conscience is hilarious. Al Queda tortures and decapitates civilians and captured soldiers and casually kills people by the hundreds in mass executions while we prosecute our troops when they overstep civilized behavior. Border smugglers kill civilians and shoot at border patrol guards and we prosecute guards for minor transgressions on the testimony of criminals. Perhaps the idea is that Al Queda and border criminals will laugh themselves to death at our antic actions.

Darfur Reality

What started out as Muslim genocide towards Christian and animist groups has changed from a civil repression to a general war. Nieghbor country Chad is now at war with Sudan. It is all about oil. The Arab leaders of Sudan , in concert with China are trying to control the region. The atrocities of this war have spawned a plethora of non-profit organizations in the United States pleading for contributions . The avowed aim of these groups is to stop the genocide. One of them has published a list of companies for dis-investment because they are doing business with the Sudan. Only one of more than 200 is a United states company and not one U.S. oil company is in the Sudan. Other nations oil trusts are. Many call for U.S. intervention ignoring the fact that China would certainly resist such action. Ironically some of the same people calling for the U S to intervene militarily are calling for a withdrawal from Iraq. In the geopolitical world we exist in not a damn thing can be done in Darfur. The U N is powerless and American military is not going to be used to confront the Arab leaders and their Chinese partners.

divided we fall

The title derives from an article published in the "Denver Post" by guest contributor Billie Louden. The thrust of the article copntends that if we, the public, don't stop the vile internicine war between left and right and unite we are going to fall to the enemies of our country. She is absolutely correct. I have made that argument here, in the past, not as eloquently as Ms. Louden. The critics of government criticise only to further their own agenda , which is to replace the party in power, so that they can foul up in their own way.

exercise in futility

Do the President and congress really believe a new set of laws controlling immigration is workable ? Do they really think piling rules on already existing rules will improve anything ? Do they really think think that by legislative fiat they can solve the problem? Heck they haven't been able to enforce the existing laws. Do the even consider how to enforce the rules of the cumbersome process they are contemplating or do they think compliance will be the result of their good intentions ? Have they considered the huge beuracracy they will have to create ? The whole thing is an exercise in futility , a redoubling of effort as they lose sight of the goal.
