staring them in the face

The pundits and politicians, including our Ken Salazar are finger pointing at everyone for the failure of the immigration bill to get through the Senate. The reason the public raised such hell is not because of a word "amnesty" but because of complete distrust of enforcement of the bills provisions. A similar bill was passed in 1986 at the behest of luminaries like Spector and Kennedy. The bill provided for amnesty for about 3 million illegals ,the closing of the border and penalties for hiring illegals. The latter two provisions were never enforced by either Republican or Democrat administrations. Why expect more now? Fool me once , shame on you: fool me twice shame on me.
