Zealotry And Common Sense

Zeal in search for solutions is commendable . Zealots ,however, are not. Green zealotry, has placed our nation perilously close to economic disaster. It is responsible for our over dependence on foreign oil and lack of development of energy sources. The real "Inconvenient Truth" is that when economic disaster occurs, through lack of energy in the U S,solutions to environmental concerns will no longer be affordable.

wishing won't make it so

Reality eludes our political leaders. They seem to believe that what they wish for will happen. Examples abound , they believe that energy independence can be achieved though conservation and uninvented substitutes for petroleum. They believe that coverting food to fuel is without repercussions. They believe that global warming is ethnogenically caused and we can combat it by reducing our "carbon footprint". They believe that militant Islam is not a threat to the West and if we accede to demands it will go away. Perhaps they should recognise reality. If we wish energy independence we must have more domestic oil production , we must use clean coal and nuclear energy. We must stop production of the environmentally damaging and useless ethanol. If global warming is a threat we should be preparing for change rather than trying to prevent the inevitable. Militant Islamists have openly declared their intention to destroy the West. We cannot ignore them as we ignored the open declarations in "Mein Kampf" and allow them to use the democractic egaliterean processes of the West to accomplish their purposes. Wishing can get votes but facing reality is survival.

weary of the green

The ethanol fiasco is only the tip of the iceberg in the fatuous "green" movement. We are bombarded with advertising and living style information daily extolling "green" . Today the local newspaper was exhorting us to have a "green" kitchen. Yesterday I was encouraged to have a "green" home. Tomorrow I will be faced with advertising selling "green " paper towels, cleaning products, building materials, home appliances, automobiles, on and on ad nauseum. Believe it or not, some company is selling insurance by promising to donate part of the premium for "green" projects. I'm so weary of the "green" I'm going to pass on green beer for St Patrick's day and tear up my green card.

halleluah

The mainstream media is waking up to the folly of ethanol which we have been ranting over for years. Time magazine has a cover article puncturing the ballon of environmental benefits of ethanol and iterating the horrible effect on food prices. Now, if they would trumpet the fact that in spite of increasing co2 in the atmosphere the world temperature has not increased and actually has decreased slightly we may be on our way to a more rational approach to climate change. It gauls me that even that anti-darwin Limbaugh saw thru this agricultural con game while our illustrious confederation of idiots in Washington are redoubling their efforts to sell us on ethanol and fluorescent lightbulbs. light bulbs.
