Hands Up

There is one thing that I know...I won't shake hands with Sheryll Crow.... and on reflection I'd be sorry ... to shake hands with her friend Laurie

Thanatopsis II

Why does our society condemn sick old people who wish to die , to do so by starvation or dehydration? . It is a crime to starve an animal but the only acceptable way for a sick person to die is to honor their advance directive not to sustain them with food or water. This is a disgusting condemnation of the individual. Why not honor their wish by allowing a comfortable death. If the constitution gives a woman the right to control her body and have an abortion why can't a sick person have the same right and have their wish to die honored.

Nail In The Coughan

A new study by a Stanford University researcher shows ethanol blended gasoline to be a greater ozone polluting fuel than gasoline. Cornell researcher adds that ethanol in addition to ozone releases formaldahyde , benzene and other carcinogens. This is stuff the EPA mentioned years ago. Agricultural interests and Archer Daniel Midland supplied enough campaign cash and misinformation to get the easily led politicians to accede to their wishes for a subsidized ethanol industry.. Manipulate the thrill a minute press and public then watch panicky politicians react, it's disgusting.

Commissars of Climate

John Kerry and wife wrote a book on saving the planet while spending eleven hundred dollars a month on electricity for one of their homes. Al Gore wrote a book and made a movie about responsible use of natural resources while spending thirty thousand a year at one of his homes. These hypocritical commissars of climate sure enjoy telling us peons how to live in accord with their beliefs.

ethanostagflation

Inflation is coming . Ethanol use will result in inflation. Corn used to make this inefficient fuel reduces the amount of corn available for food . The prices of eggs , meat, chicken , and the myriad other products which depend on a supply of corn are already rising in response to the increase in corn prices. Ignored is the price and use of irreplaceble water to grow and process corn. The transportation of ethanol must be done by tanker trucks or rail cars. That burdens the transportation system and uses energy. The subsidization of ethanol producers , currently fifty cents a gallon, is a use of tax money that reduces money available for other governmental problems. The shortsighted program encouraging ethanol use may make us feel highly moral and ethical but it will be a disaster.

unintended tradeoffs

Depletion of the Ogallala aquifer, higher prices for corn , chicken, beef even soda and heavy water use in drought stricken west. Yessir lets save the planet by subsidizing ethanol and giving tax breaks to producers of the the stuff. Stampeded by outrageous claims of environmentalist alarmists we have traded one mess for another with no remedy for our hasty jump into the panacea of ethanol.. Please note earlier blog and the myth of Brazilian oil independence through ethanol..

john sutton, new leader

John Sutton has taken the lead as idealogically unfit for prosecutor. A sheriff and an officer are now being sued for denial of civil rights by two illegal aliens. The sheriff and his deputy were cleared of any wrongdoing by the Texas Rangers but Sutton decided to persecute, prosecute ,(take your choice) in furtherance of his vendetta against border security and achieved a great victory , a one year conviction. I think he is laying the groundwork for a Mexican presidential bid: or perhaps leader of the ACLU. Sutton has now replaced North Carolina's Nifong for most pompous jerk prosecutor.
